In Spain, all mothers have the right to create their family regardless of their sexual orientation or civil status. This means that a woman may decide to have children without having to have a husband to complete the family unit.
Changes in our habits and greater independence of women in all aspects of society have led the choice of being a single mother to be increasingly common and accepted.
Assisted reproduction techniques now allow this wish for motherhood to come true: intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilisation or a donation of ovules or embryos may be chosen, depending on the characteristics of the woman.
This is also possible thanks to the participation of strictly anonymous semen donors, carefully selected for their health and fertility qualities, assigned to each individual taking into account their blood type and physical characteristics.
Many women decide to become pregnant alone when they reach personal, professional and economic maturity, sometimes reached at a certain age. To do so, the first thing which must be carried out is the evaluation of the ovarian reserve and the gynaecological and general health. Depending on the patient, we offer the most suitable, safest, least invasive option possible.
In all cases we offer personalised psychological support. We are aware that takin this step involves a series reflection and a brave, crucial decision. We will not only accompany and support you, but will also help you search for associations, support groups, portals, etc. which may help you as a single mother.
If your ovarian reserve is good and the fallopian tubes are permeable, Artificial Insemination (AI) with donor semen is the most suitable option. Its success rate is greater than that of unprotected sexual intercourse by a couple without fertility problems. It is important that you know the stimulation you receive will be mild and very controlled, as the greatest efforts are made to avoid multiple pregnancy.
If your ovarian reserve is low or you have undergone two artificial inseminations with donor sperm, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) with donor semen will be proposed. At FIV Valencia, we offer you our sperm bank, with the assurance that our donors have been carefully evaluated and selected.
In case of your ovules no longer having a good capacity for pregnancy, we can offer you double donation using both the semen and the ovule from donors. In this case, we would seek the greatest possible similarity with your physical characteristics in both. Unless you wish otherwise, we will carry out the selection and transfer of a single embryo, to avoid the complications of multiple pregnancy and maternity.
Another option when the woman cannot use her own ovules is embryo receipt. In this case, an embryo will be transferred, donated for reproductive purposes by a couple who has attempted and achieved parenthood and who have decided to grant the embryos that they have decided not to use, to help other people have children
We are aware that takin this step involves a series reflection and a brave, crucial decision. We will not only accompany and support you, but will also help you search for associations, support groups, portals, etc. which may help you as a single mother.
You choose the transfer date, and we will organize your trip and the treatment cycle, adapting everything to your personal needs.
We have many years of experience with patients from abroad and in particular from Italy, so we know just what you need to make you feel at home. With our help, you can undergo the treatment in two simple steps:
1º Make a first visit to FIV Valencia, during which you can also vitrify a sperm sample. That way you can come the second time just for the IVF transfer!
2º Choose the day that best suits your needs to make the transfer! We will take care of the rest.
Over 90% of our patients become pregnant. Pregnancy rate over 50% per attempt.
